INNEN will use the proprietary business intelligence platform Wheesbee to carry out stakeholder analysis and innovation ecosystem mapping (WP3). INNEN will develop all necessary digital tools and web applications in C4B (e.g. website, C4B Stakeholder Panel, C4B Business Model Tool and OC project submission platform) (WP3, 6, 8, 9 and 10).

Additionally, PNO has expertise in exploiting advanced technologies, setting up of international technology transfer and open innovation networks and knowledge-sharing communities.

PNO leads the communication, dissemination and exploitation acctivities in WP9 and 10 to maximise C4B impact. Additionally, PNO will support the design and deployment of the project replication strategy to boost EU bioeconomy.

Established in 1990, APRE represents a vast interest group of organisations and companies which are active in research and technological innovation in Italy. APRE has its head office situated in Rome as well as regional help desks that form a network throughout the national territory. APRE EU Liaison Office is based in Brussels.

FONDAZIONE AGRIFOOD & BIOECONOMY FVG

Fondazione Agrifood & Bioeconomy FVG (FAB FVG) is a Foundation of participation, with the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia (north-eastern Italy) and local financial institutions as founding members, but also counting on a wide network of institutional stakeholders (Universities, Chamber of Commerce, sector agencies, consortia, associations, etc.) and supporting members (private SMEs). FAB FVG is in charge of accelerating the competitive and sustainable development of the regional agrifood and bioeconomy sector, also coordinating the related cluster of companies. The organization promotes and develops activities and projects with durable impact on regional target value chains, supporting innovation and sustainable growth by bringing together public and private key actors with an inclusive approach.

In the framework of C4B project, FAB FVG will engage regional stakeholders related to three strategic regional value chains, wine, cereals and wood, providing inputs for the development of new business models for integrated, sustainable and fair bio-based value chains. The organization will also support the analysis of case studies, as well as contribute to economic, environmental and social impact assessment and dissemination and exploitation activities

BIOFUEL REGION

BFR want to drive the transition to a bioeconomy and a fossil-free vehicle fleet. Our strength is the collaboration with the public sector, business and research and development, and this makes the wheels turn faster. BFR work for sharper measures and action programs, from municipal to European level, to facilitate development in northern Sweden.

BFR is responsible for the Swedish wood case study, WP5. Other activities is in WP3 and WP4 with involvement on the stakeholders.

CluBE is developing R&D and business activities in the fields of bioeconomy, bioenergy and environment, in order to reinforce green, smart and circular economy in the region of Western Macedonia and the neighbouring areas. CluBE’s areas of expertise, regarding proposal preparation, writing and implementation, are stakeholder engagement (mainly local and regional but also National and European), local and regional replication, coordination of local demo sites, communication, and dissemination as well as knowledge transfer and mobilisation of entrepreneurship

UNIVERSITAET HOHENHEIM

We convert biomass and agricultural waste streams into value-added products, including biochar, activated carbon, platform chemicals, and fertilizers. We develop and organize value chains for our products, extending from rural regions to applied and industry-near applications. Our focus includes the implementation of ‘on-farm’ biorefinery concepts, leading to new perspectives and utilization opportunities for potential stakeholders. Our processes thrive on iterative assessments and analyses conducted by computational tools for sustainable process development.

Partner Role in C4B
UHOH mainly participates in the development of the holistic framework (WP5) and the environmental and sustainability assessment (WP7) of the case studies. The investigated case studies by UHOH are agricultural, residual streams from the cultivation of apples, potatos and wetland biomasses for the production of platformchemicals like Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and Furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA). The results of these work packages will feed into the business model development (WP6), in which UHOH will be active consultatively.

WAGENINGEN UNIVERSITY

Wageningen University has a long-standing experience in participating in and leading large scale EU projects. The Business Economics group (BEC) has extended expertise in the analysis of farmer decision making and behaviour with respect to sustainability, applied in several national and EU projects, conducting economic experiments, surveys and interviews. Moreover, BEC has experience in the validation of business models.

Partner Role in C4B
WU will lead the analysis of the case studies in WP5. Additionally, WU is involved in the development and validation of business models in WP6, and in the economic and overall sustainability assessment in WP7. WU will also lead the development of a portfolio fo R&I priorities.

STICHTING WAGENINGEN RESEARCH

Wageningen Economic Research is one of the research institutes within the legal entity Stichting Wageningen Research. It is an internationally leading socio-economic research institute that offers governments and companies (socio) economic insights and integral advice for sound policies and better decision-making in an innovative way. The institute’s data and models provide help in this process. Research themes vary from biodiversity to true pricing, from consumer behaviour to fisheries, from nature based solutions to farmers’ revenue models, from sustainable value chains to health.
